Award winning Ghanaian rapper and Africa’s most celebrated musician Sarkodie has established that musicians must have the passion for what they do in other to attract people to be willing to sign them onto their labels.
In an interview with the award winning rapper on Pluzz FM’s morning show, AM Pluzz with the show host Sammy Flex, he made it known that for him to accept and work with an artist, the artist must be talent driven, ready to work and have the passion for what he or she does, either than that, it will be difficult for him to work with such a person.
Speaking about his new album titled ‘Mary’ which will be witnessing an autograph signing at the West Hills Mall on Saturday, the 12th of September where you buy a copy of the CD and get the opportunity to snap pictures with the star, he said it`s an album dedicated to his grandma and would love fans to come and have a nice time together with him.
“The Mary album is dedicated to my grandma, who always wanted me to do live music but the sad thing is that I didn’t know she will go that fast. I am also praying I will get most of my artists like Efya, Akwaboah and the rest but I am glad I got Akwaboah to join me pay homage to my grandma. I want to entreat all fans to come to West Hills at 1:00 pm to come get a CD” he said
Sarkodie also made it known that, his motivation of taking care of Awal was to get him understand that education is very important, not just to push him into the music sense but to rush him to be a star and with the support of his friend Ohene Simon, they’ve been able to enroll him successfully.
When asked whether he would want to sign Awal unto his record label, he said that, ‘when it comes to signing, I think in Africa people rush to sign people and it becomes a problem and they keep complaining. I would like to guide him because I think systems are not right and I won’t risk it. I love to pamper everybody I do paper work with and it has to be official so until things are right, I am always there when he is ready’
He also hinted that, he believes Akwabaoh is a great talent and that Ghanaians are joking with him so he will be devoting time to ensure that he gets to the stage that he Sarkodie thinks is due, because he did great on the ‘Mary’ album.
