Don’t Nominate Me Again – Ohema Woyeje Tells RTP Awards
Popular mid – morning show hostess of Adom FM, Harey Adwoa Yeboah Asuama, aka Ohemaa Woyeje, has warned organizers never to be added to the Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards ever again.
In an exclusive interview with Flex Newspaper, the Work and Happiness show host disclosed that, the RTP awards is of no value to her because her employers and superiors at Multimedia Group of Companies where she works, do not see any credibility in the awards scheme.
“I don’t want to be nominated for the RTP awards ever again because my Chief Operating Officer at Multimedia says the award is not credible and that is the station’s stand so even if I get it, it won’t attract anything to me. Aside that, the award comes with nothing monetary attached to it and my station does not even recognize the award scheme as a whole,” she revealed.
Although she has always been nominated this and every year since the inception of the RTP awards, the Adom TV Yekeka hosts believes the nominations are enough already, because not for once have they given her an award. “I have always been nominated with an exception of just a year since they began yet I have got nothing from it. We are wasting people’s credit. My fans and followers cannot always use their credit to vote without any benefits. If they nominate me again I won’t campaign for votes on radio and even if votes are what it takes to win, I’m not even ready to allow anyone to use their credit to vote for such course,” Ohemaa added.
According to Ohemaa Woyeje, she feels she is too grown for awards like the RTP Awards because she is fully aware of her value in the industry and does not need anybody to tell her whether or not she is doing well in her category. The 2014 Female DJ of the Year went on to say that apart from the fact that the RTP Awards is not credible to her radio station, she is also opting out because she does not want little kids to have the audacity to pass disrespectful comments about her on social media just because of the awards.
However, Ohemaa intimated that she is ever ready to be part of any other award except for the RTP Awards but if they want to honor her efforts in the industry, they should bring that honor to the studio without her necessarily going round soliciting for votes as if she is buying the award.
After every awards scheme, it is normal to hear most nominees who do not triumph in their categories complain bitterly about their unfortunate defeats, but it is quite the contrary in Ohemaa’s case.
Ohemaa Woyeje who neither campaigned for votes nor attended the main event strongly noted that, she is not disappointed she did not win the award, but her reason for making such a decision to permanently opt out of the awards scheme is because, her participation or victory is futile to the radio station where she works.
